Basketball, Horses and Homework Books

A couple days after Jerry and Phil resigned… and the day after Nana’s hip dislocated for the 2nd time… we took a break and went outside to play basketball.

Some of us thought while we were out there… that certain players could take a lesson from my kid.

Now, at the time the player in question was still here for us to be subjected to his negativity on our team.

Now he has been shipped off to the east coast and learned through ESPN that he was leaving been traded and we have two guys who DO enjoy playing and are happy to be here.

Devin and Derrick Press Conference

We are Jazz fans.

We were Jazz fans with The Mailman, Stockton, Horny, B-Russ, The Big Dawg… but we were still Jazz fans without all of them.

We were Jazz fans before Mr Whine and Complain that player we traded ever picked up a basketball.

Now, we add Devin Harris and Derrick Favors to our list of favorite players. However, though we definitely like Devin Harris… we won’t be switching teams if he leaves the Jazz.

We enjoy watching again because we don't hold our breath wondering what stupid thing our point guard is going to say in his post game interview. We see SMILES instead of constant negativity. If WE feel that way, I can only imagine how the actual players feel. Perhaps that is why a few select players have suddenly improved drastically.

We are most certainly enjoying Devin and Derrick. Devin has personality, optimism, leadership AND he can play basketball. Crazy isn't it?

That player we shipped off (to New Jersey when he could have gone to New York or LA...) truly didn’t understand Jazz fans.

We are fans when we are losing or winning. There is a reason we have the loudest arena in the NBA. We meet our team at the airport, even when it means standing in the pouring rain at 2am... or even when they lose.

We do NOT like a player who is an arrogant, disrespectful and disloyal brat. It doesn’t matter if they are an All Star or not.

We will never again have the days of a player taking a pay cut to keep another player. We aren’t likely to hear an MVP say “I’d like to split this trophy with the little guy.” But we also aren’t going to have someone blatantly disrespecting the coach, the team and the fans.

I know dude… Utah was just awful.

The lack of flood waters...

The living with your family instead of several states away...

The loyal fans who adored you (and pestered you too much)...

The consistently winning seasons (which wasn't enough for you)...

The hall of fame coach who made you the player you are... and you disrespected consistently.

The media who was so kind to you even though you treated them like crap because they "bothered you."

Enjoy New Jersey dude. :)
