This year… we managed to get out here… across the street from the statues in the previous entry.
Since the girls are VERY aware this year of what 9/11 was… I decided we should go. And we did, more than once.
We were there before the flags had nametags… and when they were putting the nametags on.
We were there to pick up the nametags that blew off… and find where that nametag went.
We had planned to go with the whole family… but there was that whole hip surgery thing.
It didn’t stop us from going back though… and Sadi from finding the German flag.
We walked through every single row of flags.
We stopped at many of the flags.
We read names on the flags… who they were, where they died… all those things.
Fortunately… or unfortunately… we did not have/take the time to read every single name. But we read a lot of them.
We were there for so long we had to take breaks.
We planned to come back to see the bronze statues… which we did.
We saw a helicopter fly over…
And then… before the month of September was even over, another flag and laminated name tag was created...
Lyndsey, 27, passed away on September 23rd, 2011, due to a tragic car accident.
She was the Director of Operations for Colonial Flag foundations.
She loved her work and was an instrumental part of the 9/11 healing fields project across the nation.
Lyndsey was selfless, loving and passionate. She had a heart of gold underneath her sarcastic, "smart-ass" exterior.

That intersection to the left of the flag in the first picture, is where the accident occurred… the flag is where the car ended up… the next intersection down the street is where the Healing Field is.
I am surprised that it didn’t get more coverage, given how close it was to 9/11.

Media coverage or not… we certainly noticed and wanted to recognize Lyndsey.
